Jordan Morrell was most recently SVP/Chief Product Officer for Archipelago, leading the brand as GM of product creation (heading up design, product management, merchandising, and development teams) for a diverse portfolio of high-growth consumer brands including OluKai (footwear), Melin (headware), Roark (apparel), and Kaenon (eyewear). He was recruited with a change mandate to elevate product excellence across all four brands by resetting product strategies, re-tooling teams, and raising standards across the board.
Just prior, he was an Entrepreneur in Residence at Next Coast Ventures ($500M+ in assets under management) in Austin, Texas where he worked to found and build a start-up consumer brand.
Prior to that, he was in leadership roles at Nike for over a decade.
In his final role as VP, Strategy and Operations he was COO/GM of Global Nike Design (“the world’s largest design house”), he was responsible for all aspects of Nike Design, including the leadership of 1,000+ designers and management of a $100M+ operating budget. He reported to and worked side by side with Nike’s Chief Design Officer (who reported directly to Nike’s CEO).
He drove integration and coordination between the creative (Design) and commercial (Product) sides of Nike’s business as a key executive operator - setting strategy, making tradeoff decisions and driving cross functional teams for the world’s largest apparel and footwear company. He led a 30+ person Strategy and Operations teams directly, oversaw Finance, Human Resources, and Legal functions, and directed Consumer Insights and Creative Direction teams.
Beyond Design, he co-created and managed Nike’s product creation and go-to-market process - a complex offense spanning 5 seasons simultaneously and running from end (concept) to end (commercialization). He also helped manage Nike’s Concept Offense - working with Nike’s top executives across Innovation, Design, Product, Brand, and Marketing to define what (breakthrough innovations, key products, brand messages) the company would stand for in the market each season.
Prior to joining Nike Design, he worked in direct-to-consumer retail as North America GM of NIKEiD and Nike+ Digital Sport, leading cross functional teams driving Nike’s customization and digital hardware businesses .
He began his career in investment banking with Deutsche Bank, then joined the Museum of Modern Art in New York, where he managed all of the museum’s operations and finances during its historic 2006 expansion. Just prior to joining Nike, Jordan worked in real estate development for Hines Interests managing the retail component of CityCenterDC, a 2.5 million SF / $950M mixed-use project designed by world renowned architect Sir Norman Foster + Partners.
